Last week when I was walking in Saint-Germain I found a really nice store called Eleven Paris. The clothes are simple and basic with a great cut. Their stores are spread out over Paris and one of them you find at rue de l’ancienne comédie.

INTERVIEW WITH ALEXIS HURET – ART DIRECTOR, GRAPHIC AND MOTIONDESIGNER
In the more fancy blocks in Paris on Rue Danielle Casanova I meet Alexis Huret in his office. He’s sitting in front of a big Mac screen and trying to come up with new creative ideas for his clients. After 5 years at École Supérieure d’Art Graphique Penninghen he’s been working as a freelance graphic designer, art director and motion designer for 6 years. Alexis is working with all types of media: illustration, painting, graphic design, motion, website, magazine, poster and print. With clients as Dior, Nintendo, Nestlé, Adidas, Tony Parker, L’Oréal and many more Alexis can now put an other famous brand on his CV, namely BMW.
In the beginning of the year BMW Motorrad launched a new partnership with artists: a stylist, two creatives, a film-maker and a graphic designer. Alexis got free hands to design the F 800 R model and gave birth to «Tiger Rider» which includes a helmet, a painting and two paper toys (Tiger & Shark). “For this project I found inspiration from street art and hip hop with dynamic colours and pictures while revisiting the American fighters P-40″. When I ask Alexis about which job he’s most proud of he thinks about it for a short while and then answers “It must be this one for BMW, it’s one of the biggest jobs I’ve ever done”.
After Alexis had finnished the scientific high school he realized he wanted to do something totally else. “I’ve been drawing since I was very young and after I finnished high school my uncle told me about École Supérieure d’Art Graphique. We visited the school together and the director asked to see my work. I didn’t have a portfolio back then so I just showed my drawings and my graffiti books.” The director wasn’t used to get this unprepared applications but fortunatly he liked Alexis drawings enough to let him start the education. “He assured me that it was going to be really hard since the other students had started the education 4 months before but I was so motivated and had nothing to loose so I worked really hard. It worked and 5 years later in 2004 I got my master!”
To become successful in Alexis job you need to have an endless creativity and something that makes you unique and makes you stand out from the crowd. I ask Alexis if it’s possible to learn how to draw if you have zero talent from the beginning. “I saw students in my school that couldn’t draw a line when they started the school that became really, really good within two years. I think everybody can become good, but that’s not enough if you want to become successful. You need to have ‘that’, something special that appears in your work”.
When it comes to fashion Alexis is specially a big fan of cool t-shirts and sneakers. Below there’s a list with Alexis favourite websites where you can find everything from clothes and shoes to different artists.
